Introduction
This part of the website lists resources that you may find useful in holography for computer graphics.
This is a growing list that will be updated periodically.
Books
- Goodman, J.W, Introduction to Fourier Optics, Fourth Edition, Roberts and Company, 2017
This is the standard reference on the mathematics and physics behind holography
and related optics. Lots of mathematics, but very well written.
- Saxby G. and Zacharovas S., Practical Holography, Fourth Edition, CRC Press, 2016
This is the standard reference on traditional approaches to holography. This book
is light on mathematics, but covers all the background that you need on the different
types of holograms and how they are produced,
Articles
- Lucente M., Interactive Computation of Holograms Using a Look-up Table, Journal of Electronic Imaging, vol. 2, no. 1, p28-34, 1993
As far as I can tell this is the original article on the use of the point light source method to compute holograms.
- Green M., A Low Cost Holographic Display, Siggraph Asia 2016 Technical Brief, Dec. 2016
- Maimone A., Georgiou A., Kollin J., Holographic Near-Eye Displays for Virtual and Augmented Reality, Siggraph 2017
Proceedings, 2017.
Suppliers
- Edmund Optics
A good source of optical equipment. Has a very good catalogue and tutorials.
- Thorlabs
Another good source of optics and lasers. Has a complete catalogue and tutorials
- Digi-Key
A good source of electronic components and lasers.
